Valerie Williams' Obituary
A loving and beloved mother, sister, friend, mentor, and teacher, Valerie Williams of Georgetown, Guyana and Frederick, Maryland passed away at home in the presence of her family after a long journey with cancer. Valerie’s gentle wisdom, compassionate heart, and deep commitment to living out her faith in Jesus made her a blessing to those who knew her. For more than three years, she faced an increasingly difficult illness with courage, grace, and faith, believing that the God who had shown her so much love over her lifetime would not fail to sustain and provide for her in the midst of great suffering.
Valerie’s family and friends had hoped for her complete healing on this side of eternity. The Lord chose instead to reserve full healing for heaven, and to use her journey to kindle faith in our hearts and inspire us to believe and trust in His sovereign goodness. Valerie wanted more than anything to leave a Godly legacy. The end of her time on earth enriched and expanded that legacy. Her loved ones take great comfort in the fact that she has entered a joyous eternity in the presence of her Lord and Savior. We also rejoice that she shares that eternity with her parents, her mother- and father-in-law, her sister-in-law Joy, and her sister Maureen. In addition to her large circle of friends, Valerie is survived by her close knit family of brothers and sisters, a host of nephews and nieces, a daughter-in-law, and three children who absolutely adored her.
To continue Valerie’s legacy, a compassionate ministry fund is being established. The family asks that instead of sending flowers, those wishing to honor Valerie reserve their gifts for donations to that fund. Details about the ministry and its mission will be shared soon.
