Stacy Rae Doody's Obituary
Obituary
Mrs. Stacy Rae Doody, 57, of Frederick, went Home to the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2018. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant struggle with ovarian cancer. She was the devoted wife of James Lee Doody, Jr., her husband of 32 yrs. Originally from Paw Paw, West Virginia, Stacy was the daughter of Vincent and Barbara Hanlin. She began her career with Frederick County at the Health Department, and worked for many years at Frederick County Public Schools. She formed lasting friendships everywhere she worked, including Doody's Mechanical Services, Inc., which she ran with her husband. Stacy was strong in her faith and very active in charity events and doing what she could to help others. She was a Partner in Hope with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital since the early 1980's and a regular blood donor until the time of her illness. A favorite quote she pointed out: "She believed she could, so she did". In addition to her loving husband and her parents, Stacy is survived by her sister, Kim Hanlin; brothers George Hanlin & wife Cathy, and Craig Hanlin & wife Sandy; sister-in-law Ruth Grimes & husband Floyd, brothers-in-law Marlin Doody & wife Ana and Joseph Doody & wife Donna; mother-in-law Mary Ellen Doody, stepdaughter Grace Brice, and many other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins, many lifelong friends, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a niece, Molly Hayes, a grandson, Christian Doody, and a stepson, Jamie Doody. Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 PM on Thursday, August 9th and from 10 - 11 AM on Friday, August 10th at Frederick First Church of the Nazarene, 7899 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday. Procession and interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 (st.jude.org) or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (ovarian.org). Stacy's knowing Christ as our Savior and understanding the written Word of God takes the sting out of death; it leaves a gentle peace to those who Believe.
