Mrs. Ruth Ann Augustine's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Augustine on April 11, 2024, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland.
Ruth Ann was born on June 9, 1950, in Olean, New York. In 1961 she moved to Maryland and would later graduate from High Point High School in Beltsville, MD in 1968.
On May 2, 1970, she married the man with whom she would spend the next 53 years and the rest of her life, Alfons Augustine. After starting their family, and buying a home in Clarksburg (MD), Ruth Ann worked as a cashier at Giant Food. Then in 1985, she began employment with the Montgomery County Government (MD) in the Health Department, and later for Health and Human Services.
Spending time with family, visiting the beach in Ocean City (MD), and going to the casinos in Charlestown, WV and Rocky Gap, MD were all things she loved to do. She was a kind, loving and outgoing person who would have a smile for everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Alfons Augustine Sr.; three sons (and spouses) Alfons Augustine Jr. of Clarksburg, MD; James Augustine (Jennifer Augustine) of Severna Park, MD: and Nicholas Augustine (Chaz Timmons) of Frederick, MD; five grandchildren: Brandon and Eric Augustine, Juliana and Jenna Augustine, and Addison Augustine-Timmons; five sisters: Cindy White, Lori Furgason, Janice McDivitt, Rozellia Mahoney (Bill), and Audrey Manahan (Rick); and two brothers: Curtis Furgason (Carolyn) and Tom McDivitt (Theresa), along with multiple cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Furgason Sr. (Rose); mother, Georgia R. McHenry (Robert); and brothers, Robert D. Furgason and James A. Furgason Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, at 11:00 am at Resthaven Funeral Home, which is located at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701.
