Paul Otto Micheel Jr's Obituary
Paul Otto Micheel, Jr. passed in his home, surrounded by his family on August 17, 2025, in New Market. He was born on August 24, 1934, in North Carolina to Paul Otto and Frances Micheel.
Paul led a remarkable life filled with adventure, intellect, and compassion. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard before embarking on a career as an engineer. His work took him across the globe, contributing to numerous projects and earning patents for innovative printing equipment and designs. He later retired as a Project Manager for the United States Treasury Department.
On December 27, 1985, Paul married, Rosita S. de Jong, in Rockville, Maryland. Together, they shared a deep love for sailing and traveling, creating memories that spanned continents and decades. He was a lifelong learner who found joy in sharing his wisdom with others—especially his family.
Paul was a beloved soccer coach, a skilled tinkerer who enjoyed working on cars, and a dedicated caretaker of his home. He had a magnetic sense of humor and a gift for making others laugh, often recounting the wild adventures that could only have happened to him. Above all, he was generous with his time and spirit, always eager to help others in any way he could.
Paul cherished time spent with his family, listening to their stories and offering guidance with warmth and wit. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosita Micheel; children, Paul Micheel III,Claire Meiklejohn, Thomas Micheel, Carolyn Cacolice (Paul); Stepdaughter, Sonia Wendt (Andrew); grandchildren, Brandon Meiklejohn, Camden Cacolice, Quinn Cacolice, Nova Micheel, Raven Micheel, Morgan Burd, Sophia Burd, Hewson Burd, Jacob Wendt, Benjamin Wendt, Aimee Craddock; and great-grandchildren, Stella Urbanowicz and Isabelle Urbanowicz.
Paul is preceded in death by son, Patrick Micheel; stepdaughter, Monica Craddock; parents, Paul and Pauline Frances (Gallick) Micheel; and Numerous special cousins
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Monocacy Room at Resthaven. A reception will follow from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All who knew and loved Paul are welcome to attend and celebrate his extraordinary life.
