Memories of Neal
If I had to describe Neal in a few words, it would be quietly competent. He was a quiet person, although once he got going was impressively knowledgeable about a variety of subjects.
After the passing of his wife’s father, Neal was able to untangle the logins and passwords for multiple systems and assist Susan in getting her feet back on the ground.
Neal was compassionately competitive, and our family always enjoyed playing board games whenever the Van Scoy family visited. While he always strove to win, he could always be counted on to be aware of others and encourage them.
Personally, I was always impressed with the breadth of his knowledge, and he seemed to always have a thoughtful response at the ready. While he could sit quietly with you if needed, he was also willing to chat with you as well. I feel I am a better person for having known him.
Here he is patiently holding his phone so I could take his picture, so when he called, it would look like he was actually calling…
Neal was a problem solver. He’d analyze a situation and work with it until he had the solution, a character trait ideally suited to his career in cybersecurity. Also the scope and depth of his knowledge was formidable. Mention a subject and Neal had all relevant facts at the ready. But most importantly, Neal was a kind and loving husband to Taire, his wife of 38 years, and proud father of their son Kyle. He adored his family and was adored by them. God bless you Neal. The way you lived your life is an inspiration for everyone!
