When I first started attending BUMC back in 2009, Lori was the third person I met there (2nd in person)--she sat with me because I didn't know anyone there/my kids were with my ex-husband that weekend. It was right around Palm Sunday and there was a luncheon afterwards. Lori sat with me at lunch, too, and made sure I received proper introductions to quite a few people. Her welcoming nature and kind spirit brought me back the following week and I've been a member there now for 15 years. There are a few people whose voices I love to hear spotlighted either during solos or during one of the two annual cantatas and Lori's voice is definitely up there as a voice we just loved to hear. When I read of her passing, I shared it with my sons and my older son, Alex, gently chided me for sending him the notification while he was working as he had to 'disappear' for a few moments to cry. Her loss will be deeply felt and we are all terribly saddened by her passing, especially since she seemingly was responding well to treatment.
Heaven's choir just gained an outstanding voice but I know my family and I will miss her dearly. She was a kind, sweet, caring person. God bless.
