I am another of John Winston's (Johnny) first cousins. We are a just a year apart in age and that made me feel close to him when we were young. Our parents would visit back and forth some so I would see Johnny and Courtney at that time. Back in the 1970's Johnny, his wife and Tim and Rene made a trip to New Orleans and while there visited me. That was really special to see them all the way from Maryland!
Recent years were very hard for Johnny health wise. He made it to Thompson family reunions as long as he could and it was good to see him and his extended family. Gisela took good care of him. I send my love to the whole family.

Danny and Johnny were first cousins. He remembers Uncle Lamen bringing Johnny and Courtney up to his house for him to teach them how to play the guitar. However Danny was self taught except for a few chords that Uncle Ira had shown him. Danny taught them those chords and that was the extent of the lessons.
