Ji Ming Wang 王吉民's Obituary
Ji Ming Wang, 72, passed away in Maui County, Hawaii on December 24, 2022.
Born November 7, 1950 in Shanghai, China, Ji Ming grew up during the tumultuous Cultural Revolution. When he was in middle school, he was forced to stop his education and work on a commune in the countryside. Several years later he was selected to continue his education and be trained at a hospital in Shanghai. Starting as a nurse, he worked every job in the hospital including x-ray technician, anesthesiologist, and chest surgeon. He obtained his M.D. from Shanghai 2nd Medical University in 1983 and his Ph.D. from Lombardy Regional School of Professional Education in Pharmacology, Milan, Italy in 1987. In 1990, Ji Ming immigrated to Frederick, Maryland with his wife WangHua Gong and daughter YiOu Wang. Soon after, his second daughter Jane Wang was born.
In Frederick, Dr. Wang conducted research for the National Cancer Institute at Fort Detrick. As a scientist, he published 306 research works. His areas of expertise included leukocyte chemotaxis and G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) signaling and regulation.
Dr. Wang’s hobbies included gardening, photography, WW2 history, and watching the Godfather movies. Ji Ming also enjoyed playing and watching basketball.
A service will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, at 10 AM EST at the Resthaven Funeral Home
