Howard Alexander Bruneau's Obituary
With a broken heart, I am writing to inform you that my best friend and husband Howard Bruneau has died of polycystic kidney disease on February 11, 2023. Howard endured over seven years of dialysis three days a week and I am so proud of him for this accomplishment. He put himself through this for his children and myself.
Quite a few people reading this will say "Hey! I know him." "He taught me to brew beer or make wine at the Flying Barrel in Frederick." Howard was a Brewmeister. He won many, many ribbons and awards in both Montgomery and Frederick County Fairs. Many of those ribbons were for first place. He took immense pride in educating others in this craft and it broke his heart when he no longer had the strength to teach. He also judged both beer and wine for many years at the Great Frederick Fair.
Howard was born in Washington, DC on November 1, 1950, and grew up in Rockville, MD. He graduated from Richard Montgomery High School and Hagerstown Community College. Howard spent more than 34 years as a Field Service Engineer at Watkins Johnson Company and subsequently the buyers of WJ. Fourteen years ago, he made the move to be an Electronics Engineer at G3 Technologies in Mt. Airy. His coworkers and friends were family to him. There are too many to name and I do not want to forget anyone. You all know who you are.
He had a wicked sense of humor and loved music, cooking, watching baseball, traveling and his family. Since the day he walked into our lives he took care of his newfound family in a way that just can't be put into words. He didn't have to. He just did it. He didn't have to be a dad but chose too anyway.
Howard leaves behind his loving wife, best friend, and partner of almost 40 years, Evelyn B. Bruneau of Jefferson, MD. Stepchildren Thomas "Butch" Cunningham (Cheryl) of Colorado and Heather Houck (Paul) of Jefferson, MD. Brother, Peter Bruneau (Dee) of Leland, NC. Grandchildren Jacob Cunningham, Clay Cunningham (Lindsay), Camden Houck and Holly Houck. Sister-in-law Wendy (Rick) Blumberg of Plano, TX. Nieces Sherry (Joel) Newburg of Winter Park, CO, Karen Bruneau of Sand Point ID, Heather Pierko (Darius) of Denmark, ME and nephew Brian (Jessica) Bruneau of Wilmington, NC along with many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Raymond A. and AnneJo Bruneau.
