Elaine Ivascu's Obituary
Elaine Ivascu died on 14 September 2023 of natural causes. She was married to George Ivascu Jr. in 1953 in Philadelphia, PA, who die in April, 2008.
Though born in Romania on June 5, 1934, the daughter of the late Sevestian and Florence Ureche, she was an American citizen at birth. She grew up in Philadelphia, PA and upon her marriage, moved to South Saint Paul, MN.
She was employed by Quantum Research Corporation, Bethesda, MD, from its inception until she retired in 1999, in many capacities, including Assistant Secretary of the Corporation and Human Resources Director. Prior to moving to Maryland in 1978, she was a paralegal in the State of New Jersey and worked for ten years for an attorney in Trenton, NJ.
Mrs. Ivascu had been active in a number of organizations. She served as Committee Chair for the Lower Makefield (PA) Women’s Club, Secretary for the Mercer County Legal Secretaries (Trenton, NJ), President off the Ladies Auxiliary of the Falls Township (PA) Fire Company, PTA President in Rome and Port Washington, N. She also provided volunteer services to the Meals on Wheels program and Literacy Council in Frederick MD.
She is survived by one son, George A. Ivascu Sr.; 9 Grandchildren, George A. Ivascu Jr., Kristi Lane, Michael Lee, Mallory Ivascu Jessica Ivascu, Maryellen Ivascu, Glenn Ivascu, Ralph Ivascu, and Ronnie Ivascu; 12 great-grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Luke, and Noah Lane, Rylee Lee, George A. Ivascu III, Adrianna, Kyle, Rowan, Daniel, Zane, and Gabrielle Ivascu.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Daniel Ivascu and adult son, Gordon Ivascu.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Make-a-Wish Foundations.
Relatives and Frends may call from 6pm to 8 pm on 21 September 2023 at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Funeral services will be held at the Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, on 22 September at 12pm with interment to follow.
