Dean Trafford Trevorrow's Obituary
Dean Trafford Trevorrow, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Barbara Coleman Trevorrow for over 64 years.
Dean was born on Christmas Day 1937 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Trafford J and Marieta Eva Jewell Trevorrow and enjoyed growing up on the family dairy farm near Mineral Point (WI).
He graduated from Mineral Point HS in 1955. He served in the US Army Honor Guard at Fort Myer, VA from 1956-58, where he met Barbara. The couple married in 1959, settled in Rockville. Maryland, and had 3 children. The family re-located to Frederick County Maryland in 1978, where they maintained their primary residence. He worked for the US Postal Service, NIH, and for the Brigham Construction business before landing a job as a carpenter at Montgomery College (in Rockville) in ~1966. He held various positions at MC over the years and retired as Head of Renovation and Reconstruction for all campuses in 1994.
Dean was an industrious, creative, humorous, and down to earth man with many talents, who preferred to work behind the scenes. He was a master cabinet and furniture maker, skilled carpenter, and general “jack of all trades” and built or renovated three weekend getaway residences over the past 50 years. He was humble; he enjoyed helping others, especially if it involved fixing or building things, ploughing a snowy driveway, making things for school and church projects. He was active in his church, serving as a trustee, singing in the choir, and faithfully participating in worship and fellowship activities.
Dean cherished his family and was a devoted friend and neighbor. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Barbara; Children: Lori Welsh (Terry), Steve Trevorrow, Brian Trevorrow (Caroline); Grand-children: Devon Welsh (Kim), Shawna Welsh, Allie Trevorrow, Brie Murphy (Patrick), Trafford Trevorrow (Channah), Clayton Trevorrow, Rowan Trevorrow; Great-grandchild, Adelyn Welsh; Siblings: John Trevorrow (Gloria), Linda Prideaux (Curt), Chuck Trevorrow (Rita), Barbara Ott (Doug); Sisters-in-law: Marilyn Trevorrow, Janice Suddueth (Fred), Sandra Sherman (Jay); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his wife’s parents, William H. and Annie Coleman; Siblings: Frank Trevorrow, Sandy Heine; Brother-in-laws: Bill Coleman, Bill Heine; Sister-in-law: Pat Coleman; Niece, Julie Trevorrow; and Nephews: Ronnie Suddueth, Rick Coleman.
