Clay Hafer Barndollar, III's Obituary
Clay H. “Barney” Barndollar III, 83, of Thurmont, MD, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, in his home after a brief illness. He was born on September 10, 1942, in Windber, PA, to the late Clay H. and Mary Lou Barndollar.
He graduated from Windber High School in 1962. After graduating, he enlisted in the Army, serving with the 101st Airborne Rangers in Vietnam from 1964–1967. He went on to have a 33-year career with Giant Food as a grocery manager before retiring.
Barney’s loves were music, dancing, and classic cars. From his first 1957 Corvette to his current 1951 Fleetwood, he could often be found polishing chrome, getting ready for a car show, or cutting the rug on the dance floor.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of 58 years; his son, Clay H. Barndollar IV (Michele) of Walkersville, MD; and his grandsons, Preston Wolf (Brooke) of Waynesboro, PA, Clay H. Barndollar V, and Ryan Barndollar, both of Walkersville, MD.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Lorraine Barndollar Wolf; his parents, Clay H. and Mary Lou Barndollar; and his sister, JoAnn Waldman
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will take place at 12:00 PM the same day.
