Cecilia Marie Logan's Obituary
Cecilia Marie Logan, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Frederick, Maryland, on
July 17, 2024, with her family by her side. Known affectionately as Celie, she was a beloved
mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Born on March 13, 1947, in Washington, DC, Cecilia was the daughter of Benjamin and
Gertrude (Gough) Nottingham. She was the middle child of five and grew up in Silver Spring,
Maryland, where she formed lifelong friendships. After graduating from Springbrook High School
in 1965, she married and moved to Dale City, Virginia, where she raised her two children. In
1982, she began her career at the United States Capitol as a tour guide, later moving to the
elevators in 1983, and ultimately retiring in 2005 as a Human Resources officer for the Senate
Sergeant at Arms.
In retirement, Celie fulfilled her lifelong dream of owning a beach home. She had a passion for
travel and exploring new places and cultures. Her love for the beach was unparalleled, and she
spent many joyful summers with her grandchildren at the Outer Banks, creating cherished
memories. An avid reader and beach lover, Celie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She
especially loved being near the Atlantic Ocean outside her condo in Kitty Hawk, NC, and the
Caribbean Sea, where she enjoyed annual trips with friends to St. Kitts.
Above all, Celie was a compassionate and patient mother, whose wisdom and grace will be
deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cecilia is survived by her daughter, Faith T. (Logan) Hill and her husband Jeff of Ft. Mill, SC; her
son, John Alan Logan, Jr., and his partner Emily of Frederick, MD; her grandchildren, Seth
White, Connor White, Meghan White, Pallas Kenyon, Kyle Logan, Abigail Logan, and Leah
Kenyon; and sisters Gail Mullikin of Woodstock, Va and Kathleen Perry and her husband Jim of
Hernando, Fl. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Gertrude Nottingham;
her brothers, Thomas and Paul Nottingham; her sister-in-law, Carol Nottingham; and her
brother-in-law, William (Sonny) Mullikin.
Services will be held at 4 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Resthaven Cemetery, 9501 Catoctin
Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701. A celebration of her life will immediately follow the
