Kate would tell me that when she died she wanted people to remember her as a kind person. I’m sure they will Kate, I would tell her. Kate was literally my next door neighbor and would either be bringing me a dish to try out that she just made or some really nice clothes or shoes she didn’t use or want to return. Rarely a week passes when I’m not wearing something she gave me and thinking of her. She was sooo generous. She was definitely a minimalist trying to grow in patience as she living next to me Farmer Jen who was trying to maximize all her townhouse space out front where the sun was the strongest to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers. I think sharing my bounty helped or maybe she just gave up on trying to get me to consolidate. She definitely loved the neighborhood kids and never hesitated to intercept them, play and interact with them when they passed by her door. She was also good on greeting neighbors and all who passed by. She also became the local snake wrangler. When she heard the annual summer shriek, Kate came running to take it on!
I must say I have been blessed to have her and Jim as neighbors.
And so until we meet again Kate, I will remember all your kindness to me and so many others and pass it on!
God bless you my friend!
