Mrs. Barbara Ann Cooper's Obituary
On August 2, 2023, wrapped in her Heavenly Father’s arms, Barbara Ann Lerch Cooper peacefully joined her husband, Howard Murray Cooper, her son, Howard Murray Cooper II (Matt), and her parents, Edward and Esther Ketterman Lerch.
Barbara was born on August 10, 1940, in Knoxville, Maryland. Known by her friends and family as Barb, Barbara, and Barbara Ann, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lavalle, Maryland. Barbara kept her sense of humor and quick wit to the end.
Barbara was the oldest sister to Judy Irons, Edward C. Lerch, Jr. (Bucky) (deceased), Linda Staples, Gloria Jean Lewis (deceased), and Kathy Davis. Her entire life was devoted to her children. She is survived by her special daughter, Melissa, who she lovingly cared for for sixty-five years, as well as her other children, Lisa Cooper, Shawnee Cooper, Martelle Carr, Michelle Doyle, and Michael Cooper. Barbara was “Nannie” to Dylan Serrano, Thomas Adkins, Meghan Adkins, Jennifer Williams, Leigh Ann Hines, Jessica Carr, Emma Carr, Kiel Cooper, Amber Cooper, Ashley Cooper, and Crystal Bream. She was also the proud grandmother to 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 10th at Resthaven Funeral Home and Crematory, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Resthaven, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. A gathering at Mike’s house will take place after the service.
Memorial donations, in Barbara’s name, may be sent to Conemaugh Regional Hospice, 210 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 150, Johnstown, PA 15904, who lovingly cared for our mother in her final days.
