Yvonne Rosa Thompson's Obituary
Yvonne Rosa (Clemson) Thompson, age 89, passed peacefully at home on Friday, November 8th, 2024. Born March 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Paul Hamilton Clemson and Margaret (Baker) Clemson of Frederick.
Yvonne, lovingly known to many as “Mamaw” was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She spent well over fifty years helping others feel beautiful as a cosmetologist for Montgomery Ward and Headhunters. She had many hobbies with her favorite being flower arranging, as well as growing and tending to her many flowers in her yard. Mamaw took great pride in caring for her home and yard and her attention to detail was unparalleled. The only thing she loved more than her flowers were “her boys,” who were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her children A. Richard Thompson, Jr. (wife, Sue) and Michael S. Thompson, Sr., both of Frederick, and a special “bonus” daughter Jeannie Crocker (husband, Michael) of Boonsboro; grandchildren, Ricky Thompson, aka “her boy” of Frederick, and Ryleigh Thompson of Smithsburg; and great-granddaughter Marley Thompson of Fayetteville, PA. She is also survived by special sister’s-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and longtime friends from high school.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Thompson, Sr.; brothers Paul Clemson, Jr., James Clemson, and Larry Clemson; and grandson Michael Scott Thompson, Jr., aka “her boy.”
Mamaw was a pillar of strength with much wisdom to share. She gave the best hugs and had a dry, ornery sense of humor that will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11 o’clock am at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, Maryland.
