Mr. Wynn Myint Aung's Obituary
Mr. Wynn Myint Aung, 71, of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at Frederick Health Hospital. He was the loving husband of Khin Swe Oo Aung for 45 years.
Born September 2, 1953, in Rangoon, Myanmar, he was the son of the late Daw Than Than and U Khin Maung Myint and older brother of Tun Lynn. In addition to his wife, Wynn is survived by his children; Min Aung and wife Amanda, Moe Aung and wife Korina, Lynn Aung and husband Jesse Pate, and dog Samantha (Sammy). He leaves behind six beloved grandchildren – Penny, Nathan, Leighton, Cameron, Gabriel, and Jude as well as his three granddogs – Lola, Milo, and Ewie.
Wynn graduated from Rangoon Institute of Technology in Rangoon, Myanmar in 1977 where he earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering. After graduating from RIT, he worked as a Maintenance Engineer at the University’s Computer Center.
Wynn immigrated to the United States in 1980 where he began his illustrious career at Fairchild Space Company. He then went on to continue his passion for aerospace and spacecraft engineering at Orbital Sciences Corporation and ultimately finished his career at the Federal Aviation Administration.
Retired in December 2020, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, strengthening his Buddhist meditation practices, and traveling the world to reconnect with friends and relatives. Through his efforts to reconnect he served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Myanmar American Science & Technology Alumni Association.
Wynn was an active parishioner at Myanmar Buddhist Meditation Society, Kelatha Vihara Monastery in Baltimore, MD. He enjoyed taking an active role within the monastery to support the operation of the temple. As a devout Buddhist, he was a member of the Theravada Burmese Buddhist Association and the Burma America Buddhist Association.
A Buddhist Funeral Blessing for Wynn Aung will be held from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, at the Resthaven Funeral Home and Community Center at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway in Frederick, MD.
Flowers and donations are welcome. Monetary donations received will support the expansion efforts of the Buddhist monasteries which Wynn was a member.
