Obituary
Winnie Price, 92, died peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2015 at her Frederick home surrounded by her devoted family. Surviving are four children, Ray J. Price, Orangeburg, SC, Patricia A. Lewis, New Market, VA, Deborah M. Grove, Frederick, MD, and Jean Price-Koerting, Boonesboro, MD. She is also survived by two sisters, Nellie Neff, Harrisonburg, VA and Edna Earl Davis-Lind, Gadson, AL, one sister-in-law, Doris Sartin, Nashville, TN, and four grandchildren, James Lewis Jr, Jason Grove, Jamie Grove, and Nikki Lewis, her 10 great grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews, cousins by the dozens, and many cherished friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Luella Murrah, Ardella Sartin, and John Sartin. She was an amazing women with many recognized accomplishments. Winnie was a professional basketball player in the 40s, owner of a local restaurant in the early 70s, The Fredericktown Inn, Director of Sales for several large hotel chains, owner and manager of some of the most prominent Bed and Breakfast Inns in the tri-state area, and a role model for all women. She was a woman ahead of her time but now her work here is done and it's time to move on. She is our guardian angel shining from above. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9th at The Nazarene Church, 7899 O'Possum Town Pike, Frederick, Md. Reception to follow. A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the Dementia Foundation. Or, if unable, Winnie would ask that you do an unexpected act of kindness for someone less fortunate. The family would like to thank the devoted staff of caregivers including Cynthia Kluetz, Deborah Thomas, Connie Long, and Sharon Blache for their care, kindness, and loving support.
