Mr. Wayne Edward Eckert's Obituary
Wayne Edward Eckert, 76, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022, surrounded by his family at home in Frederick, Maryland.
Born on September 19, 1946 in Montgomery County, MD, he was the son of the late Edward Eckert and Rosemary Lozano. For over 25 years, he was a loving husband to Susan Eckert. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Rosemarie Goodwin, his former wife Mary Nagle, their daughters Christine Bellfield and her husband Brian of Longmont, Colorado, Megan Guglielmini and her husband Will of Mt. Airy, MD; stepdaughter Casey Murphy of Bethesda, MD and stepson Matthew Murphy of Hanover, MD; grandchildren Cameron, Logan, Amaya and Peyton; a great granddaughter due in March; his maternal aunt, Genevieve Goad as well as several nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.
Wayne served in the US Army as a communications technician in Vietnam and Germany from 1966-1969. His love of his years in the military was a treasured memory which he spoke about often. Wayne was a glazier by trade and spent several years with Rockville Glass as well as his own company, Tri County Glass. When Wayne retired in 2007 from the Target Corporation, he and Susan moved to Berkeley Springs, WV where they lived until moving to Frederick in 2020 to be closer to family.
Wayne bravely fought Alzheimer’s Disease for several years then ultimately developed and succumbed to a brain tumor. His love of home, family and the great outdoors sustained him as he lived with Alzheimer’s.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor in the spring of 2023.
