Obituary
Rev. Walter Carey Cox, 82, of Westminster, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his residence. He was the husband of Brenda J. Cox, his wife of 61 years.
Born on May 26, 1938, in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, he was the son of the late James Aubrey and Lucille Barnes Cox.
Carey was the minister for the Church of God of Prophecy in Frederick. He also for a number of years was an assistant vice president with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. Carey was a licensed pilot and a fine musician. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife Brenda by motor home.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Gregory C. Cox and wife Carolina of Westminster; two grandchildren: Brandon and Britney Cox. Rev Cox was preceded in death by two sons: Anthony Brian Cox and John Kevin Cox and well as his siblings.
The family will receive friends from 12- 1 pm on Sunday, October 25, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick where a celebration of Walter's life will begin at 1:00 PM Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
