Obituary
Vernon Daniel Wolfe, age 83, lifelong resident of the Libertytown area, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital which was his birthday. Born May 15, 1934 in Dickerson, he was the son of the late John W. and Mildred Etzler Wolfe. He was the husband of Nancy Lee Kemp Wolfe, who died on January 13, 2017. The Wolfe family moved to the Libertytown area in 1942 and were prominent lifelong dairy farmers. Vernon and his wife started farming in 1963 on the farm of Artie and Hannah Kemp, Nancy's grandparents. They farmed at this location for several years prior to moving to the present farm on Coppermine Road, retiring in 1988 and moving to Libertytown. Vernon enjoyed attending sales, especially toy sales, refinishing furniture, vegetable gardening and being outdoors. Surviving are children, R. Tyrone, Lisa D. and E. Michael; 3 grandsons, Joshua, Lucas and Zachery; 2 sisters, Mary Kennedy and Nancy Burke; a brother, John R. Wolfe; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Tyler Wayne Wolfe in 1971, granddaughter, Danielle Kemp and a sister, Edith Boarman. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 19 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, with Rev. Greg Quintrell, pastor of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 18.
