Tammy Lynn Jackson's Obituary
With heavy hearts, yet deep gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Tammy Lynn Jackson, who peacefully transitioned on May 12, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland, at the age of 62.
Born on November 15, 1963, in Frederick, Maryland, Tammy was the beloved daughter of the late Zelma Anderson and James “Pops” Hicks. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Hicks, Jr., and sister, Doris Waters.
Tammy was a woman of unwavering faith, unconditional love, strength, and resilience. Her warm spirit and nurturing heart touched countless lives. She carried herself with both grace and independence, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or brighten someone’s day with laughter and conversation. Her laugh was unforgettable, her energy comforting, and her love for family unmatched.
A proud graduate of Linganore High School Class of 1981, Tammy dedicated much of her life to serving others. She faithfully worked for Frederick County Public Schools for over 17 years, where she built lasting friendships and impacted many lives through her kindness and dedication. Prior to that, she worked in hospitality at the Holiday Inn/Sheraton Inn in Frederick, Maryland.
Faith remained at the center of Tammy’s life. She became anchored in her spiritual journey at Keys Chapel United Methodist Church before later becoming a devoted senior member of Faith Church Ministries, formerly known as Faith Church of God. Tammy found joy in worship and music, sharing her voice in multiple gospel choirs throughout the years. One of her favorite songs to sing was “One Day at a Time,” a song that beautifully reflected the faith and perseverance she carried throughout her life.
Tammy found happiness in life’s simple but meaningful moments — cooking meals for loved ones, spending time with family and friends, listening to Al Green, watching Tyler Perry movies, singing from the heart, and creating memories filled with laughter and love. She was deeply loved by many and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, compassion, and community.
Her love and leadership extended beyond her family into her community as well. Tammy proudly served as Community President of Cavers for nearly ten years, where she organized community picnics, fundraisers, and events that brought people together and strengthened bonds among neighbors and friends.
Tammy leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children, Wayne Hoy, Tevin Jackson, and Dailan Oram; stepdaughter, Jamill Oram; grandchildren, Samiah Jackson, Zoey Knight, Preston Knight, Triston Knight, Milani Oram, and Lovliyana Jackson; sister, Christy Miles; niece and nephew, Chantel James and Kenneth Miles; devoted loved ones, Mary and Leon Tyler; goddaughter, Phyllis "Bang" Ferguson; along with a host of extended family members, dear friends, church family, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
The family would also like to extend heartfelt appreciation and acknowledgment to the Oram family, the Pannell family, the Ellis family, the Dorsey family, the Jones family, the Spencer family, and the Hoy family and the Hammond family for their love, prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing Tammy’s faith carried her home into eternal peace. Her love, wisdom, laughter, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
“One day at a time, sweet Jesus…”
