Susan Elizabeth Tucker's Obituary
Susan Elizabeth Tucker, 71, of Walkersville, MD passed away on May 28, 2025 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Glade Valley. Susan was born on September 23, 1953, in Frederick, MD to Austin Leslie Tucker and Edith Evelyn Tucker. Suzie graduated from Linganore High School in 1971 and took classes at Frederick Community College. She worked as a switchboard operator at Routzahn’s Furniture. She worked in accounting at Hoke Furniture in Thurmont, MD, R.W. Warner, and Hewlitt Packard. She then worked at O’Neill Development Company in Gaithersburg, MD as an office manager for the last 35 years until she retired in the fall of 2023.
Suzie’s passion was genealogy, and she enjoyed tracing the Graham family back to the Revolutionary War. She was continuing her research on the Tucker family. She loved the annual McClure reunion in Marietta, Ohio, and riding the Valley Gem riverboat.
Suzie was a great music lover and a huge fan of Elvis Presley. She loved going to antique shops and flea markets with her sister-in-law Linda, and her brother, Bill. She was an ardent collector of dolls and cookie jars. “Aunt Suzie”, as she was known to her multitude of nieces and nephews, always loved giving them gifts and seeing the joy on their faces. She never outgrew her own childlike enthusiasm as evidenced by her collections of Garfield and M&Ms.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Edith; brother Leslie George Tucker and his wife, Linda; brother Thomas Edward Tucker; Kathryn M. Tucker, wife of nephew Michael; grandniece Hannah Tucker, and her closest friend, Ginny Loescher, wife of Chris.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel Blaine Tucker and his wife Margaret, and brother William Austin Tucker and his wife, Anne Soria. She is also survived by her nephews Thomas and Scott Tucker of Ohio, nephews Brian and Michael Tucker, and niece Daphne Tucker, all of Frederick County; and numerous grand, and great-grandnieces and nephews. Family was everything to Suzie.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:00am at Resthaven Memorial Funeral Home at Memorial Gardens at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701. A committal service will immediately follow, officiated by pastor Linda Lambert.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s name to the ALS Association.
Expressions of sympathy for the family may be directed to Resthaven Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
