Steven "Kash" Conners' Obituary
Steven “Kash” Conners gained his beautiful angel wings on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland. Courageous Kash, as he was lovingly known, was born on July 29, 2021. Born with a very rare congenital heart defect, Kash proved to be an unbelievable fighter undergoing multiple open-heart surgeries to rebuild and repair his complicated heart. Although some would say Kash being one in a hundred, as one in a hundred children are affected with this heart condition, in his family’s eyes, he one was their one in a million, the most precious gift, a true miracle.
In just his two short years of life, Kash brought immense joy, infectious smiles, and overwhelming warmth to all that he met. He befriended everyone that he encountered and considered all that loved him, including his each and every single person on his incredible care team at Johns Hopkins Hospital and of course all of his family. Kash had a mischievous reputation for pulling on every cord and tube that he was not supposed to touch, launching his favorite toys out of his bed when they had just been cleaned, and for violating the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit quiet hours with numerous musical toys. His smile was playful, and his spirit was captivating.
At home, Kash absolutely loved playing with his big brother Ryder and whichever cousins happened to come visit, which happened often. He was mesmerized by Cocomelon, listened to the Wheels on the Bus on repeat and then listened to it again, and he enjoyed his brother’s serenades and dances to every song played. Cozy fleece blankets and baths or the splash zone time with his brother were also some of his favorite things. Ryder and Kash were inseparable when they were together. Ryder would love to tickle his little brother and make him laugh so much, and constantly play peek-a boo with no matter what a huge smile on his face. When he wanted his attention known he for sure made it! He would be so quick to grab your hand & point to what he wanted and rub his daddy’s forehead to get his attention. Although he only said a few words; especially mama. he definitely knew how to and had his own way of communicating with us. And I hope I still will get signs that he’s here with me every day and that he’s finally happy and at peace.
Kash is also survived by his mother, Emily Anthony, father, Steven Conners, Jr., his older brother Ryder Conners and too many loving family members to mention. Everyone brought Kash joy, hope, warmth, love, and tenderness; giving him the strength to fight on, which he did tirelessly every day of his life. Kash will forever be our sunshine, our only sunshine, who made all that knew him happy when the skies were gray. Although his loss is overwhelming, Kash’s family and friends rejoice that he is no longer suffering, oxygen free, and running around like every other healthy two-year-old.
A celebration of Kash’s remarkable life will be held on Sunday. August 27, 2023, with a visitation beginning at 11 am - 12pm, with a funeral service to follow at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, 9501B Catoctin Mtn Hwy, Frederick MD 21701. Services will conclude graveside at Resthaven Memorial Gardens following services.
