Ms. Shirley Elaine Harne's Obituary
Shirley Elaine (Fix) Harne, 89, of Eldersburg, died peacefully Friday, April 12th, at the Bethania Care Home in Westminster. She was born on March 10th, 1935, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy Melinda (Fessler) Fix and John Fix. She was the wife of the late Billy Lawrence Harne, to whom she was married for 66 years.
Shirley was fiercely devoted to and loved her family. Through the many moves she made during her lifetime, she managed to make each new house a home. She was the glue that held it all together. Shirley was also a "character" whose logic sometimes confounded her family. As her husband Bill once remarked, "Shirley, you could confuse God!" Now that they are reunited, Bill is going to find out if that's true.
Shirley is survived by two sons and a daughter: Cam Harne and wife Maria, Eric Harne and wife DeVora, Billi Jo Swanson and husband Michael; six grandchildren, Kristin, Jessica, Emily, Olivia, Tyler and Andrew; and one great-grandchild, Mason. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sonja L. (Fix) Shockey.
The family would like to thank the personnel at Bethania Home Care and the nurses of Bridging Life Hospice Care for their compassion and kindness shown towards Shirley during the final months, days and hours of her life. Your professionalism was appreciated and will be remembered.
Funeral/memorial services will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD on May 4th, 2024 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
