Mrs. Shirley Catherine Burrier, 81, of Thurmont, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Kline Hospice House. She was the loving wife of C. Calvin Burrier. They were married for 62 years. Born August 5, 1934 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Jessie (Reed) Stine. She retired from Bank of America in Thurmont after 30 years of service. Prior to that she worked at Claire Frock as a secretary. Shirley also worked as a teacher's aid at Thurmont Middle School. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Hazel Few and husband Carroll of Taneytown, and Joann Clem and husband Frank of Walkersville; sisters-in-law, Helen Burrier and Louise Grabill and husband Bill; brother-in-law, Sterling Burrier and wife Sylvia; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley also will be remembered by her special friend, Donna Honeycutt. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Norman Burrier and wife Anna, and Paul Burrier. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6 from the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Margaret Moon. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
