Sara LaRowe Fadeley's Obituary
If one's life can be measured by its positive influence on others, then Sara Fadeley of Frederick lived an immeasurable life. Sara—proud American, community servant, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend—died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 30, 2023, with caring friends and loved ones at her side. She was 85.
Sara was born Sara Joan LaRowe on Feb 13, 1938, in Gloversville, NY, to parents Richard and Carolyn. Bright, precocious, and athletic, Sara filled her childhood days with family time, dancing, and skating the frozen lakes and ponds of her beloved northern New York state. As a young woman, she left home at 18 to create a new life of her own.
After falling for the handsome, devilish smile of a soon-to-be insurance agent named Dave Fadeley, Sara and David married in 1958 and eventually settled in the Frederick, MD, area. Over the years, Sara raised four successful children, and spent her time devoted to the love and care of her family as a wife and mother.
A natural nurturer with a heart for her country and community as well as for her family, Sara also worked as a tireless volunteer for her church, local schools, and the Salvation Army. And when she died, the people she had touched over the years would all speak to the values of a woman both humble and noble who believed in the virtues of a simple life devoted to others. It is a life that will be missed by all and that sets a standard to which any life should aspire.
Sara is preceded in death by her husband John “David” Fadeley. She is survived by her sister, Marcia Coon of Gloversville, NY, daughter Tamara Tiell and her husband Dave of Lexington Park, MD, son Kyle Fadeley and his wife Dagmar of Fort Mill, SC, daughter Nikki Davis and her husband Ken of Hartford, VT, son Lance Fadeley and his wife Jennifer of Phoenix, AZ, and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, April 3, 2023, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501-B, Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD, 21701. The family will be receiving guests from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service scheduled for noon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army.
