Rose Marie Smith's Obituary
Rose Marie Smith 96, of Frederick, was received by her Lord and Savior into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Citizens Nursing Home.
Born January 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Morrissey and Helen Louis Sappington Morrissey, from Libertytown.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Baker, and the father of her children, Winfield Walker Smith.
She is survived by her children, Mark Winfield and James Albert Smith; 7 Grandchildren, Thomas Alan Smith, Jr., Brandy R. Greenwald, Heather Diane Smith, Richard Walker Smith, Jr. Melissa Lynn Kersh, Christopher Alan Smith, Jacob Winfield Smith, great grandchildren; Sister, Margaret Myers and brother Richard Morrissey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will also be remembered by special friends, Mignetta Doody and Rayna Smith.
She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Gary Lewis, Richard Walker, Sr, and Thomas Alan Smith: sisters, Louise Treggoning, Geraldine Welsh, Jeanette Moran, Catherine Eyler, brothers, Matt Morrissey, Thomas Morrissey, and Francis Morrissey.
In her lifetime Rose worked for American Optical, and Sagners Sewing Factory of Frederick. She retired from the Meridian Nursing Home in Frederick, where she worked many years caring for others as a nursing assistant. She was very independent and hardworking at maintaining a home and raising her 5 sons.
Rose was a very devoted catholic and a member of the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church of Frederick. She also contributed to many charities and organization throughout her lifetime.
A visitation to honor Rose Marie’s life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, located at 9501B Catoctin Mtn Hwy in Frederick, MD 21701, on May 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM TO 12:00 PM. The funeral services will promptly begin at 12:00 PM, followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum.
Rose Marie Smith’s legacy of love and care will be forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
