Roger Allan Richard Sr.'s Obituary
Roger Allan Richard Sr., 65, of Mt. Airy, MD passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2025,surrounded by his family.
Born on June 8, 1959, in Baltimore, Maryland, Roger was a proud man and one thing he was very proud of was how good he was at the job he loved. Roger was a heavy equipment operator until he was forced into retirement after being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. He did not let that keep him down or hold him back. If Roger wasn’t out getting the wind in his hair cruising around and putting miles down on his motorcycle, traveling to PA to visit family and friends, he could be found at a favorite fishing spot. Out of everything, his favorite place to visit was Harpers Ferry, where his long-time good friend Gary Gates lived. Roger and Gary shared laughs and good times jamming out on their guitars. Roger was a master jokester and always tried to make people laugh, even if they didn’t find the humor in his joke, at least he did.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Richard Sr., brother Raymond Richard, Jr. and great granddaughter Raelynn.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Richard; his wife of 48 years Alice Richard; his sons Roger Allan Richard Jr. (Rocky), Rodney Richard and Ryan Richard; his grandchildren Cassandra, Jacob, Kylee, Natalie, Earl and Skylar; his great-grandchildren Cereniti, Zirahbii, Liylanni, Blake, Scarlytte and one on the way; his brothers Timothy Richard and wife Nancy, Gregory Richard and wife Elaine; his sister Charity Riggs and husband Andy; his sister (in-law) Annette Richard and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025,from 11:00am - 12:00pm followed by the funeral service from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at Resthaven Memorial Gardens located at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Mountaingate Family Restaurant in Thurmont, MD immediately after.
