Obituary
Robert Becker Smith, 91, of Frederick passed away on Monday, March 7th. He was the loving husband of Esther "Teri" Shaw Smith for 63 years. He was born on May 1, 1924 in the Bronx, New York to the late Robert Abbott Smith and Edith Becker. He was a World War II Vet in the United States Army working in the communication field. Robert was a generous and kind man who treated all individuals with the utmost respect. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, loyal man and very humble. He was social with anyone, loved to talk about anything and he enjoyed classical and marching band music, and reading. He especially enjoyed the theatre, bridge and square dancing with his wife for over 30 years. He was very fitness conscious as he demonstrated by walking a couple of miles back and forth to work. Robert was an active and faithful member of the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore for over 50 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons; Kenneth Smith and wife Betsy of Salisbury, Maryland, Roger Smith and wife Carole of Frederick, and Steven Smith and wife Sissy of Columbia, Maryland. Four grandchildren; Kyle, Kevin, Alexander, and Addison. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Franklin and Edward Smith. A visitation will take place on Friday, March 11th from 5-7 PM at the Resthaven Historical Chapel, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12th beginning at 1 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick, 4880 Elmer Derr Rd, Frederick. Inurnment will be held later at Arlington National Cemetery.
