Obituary
Mr. Robert Phillip Reid, 85, of Frederick, passed away on May 10, 2015 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of Blanche Reid, his beloved wife of 62 years. Born September 12, 1929 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Roy and Caroline Reid. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 and fought in Korea from 1949 - 51 and was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked his entire career at C & P Telephone, retiring in 1986. He was a member of American Legion posts in Mt. Airy and Damascus as well as FSK Post 11 in Frederick most recently. Bob enjoyed duck pin bowling, gardening, flowers, and was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He passed his love of nature on to his son and grandchildren, who adored him and whose activities he enjoyed as long as he was able. He was very proud of his son, who serves as an Assistant Fire Chief with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.In addition to his loving wife, Bob is survived by his only son, Barry Reid and his wife Metra; his two grandchildren, Mackenzie Kaye Reid and Sawyer Braxton Reid; and several other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 PM on Monday, May 18th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM on Monday.
