Robert William Jack's Obituary
Robert William Jack, 83, of Middletown, MD passed away on January 30, 2023, surrounded by family at his home. Bob fought a long hard battle with renal disease and other related complications.
Bob was born on March 22, 1939, in Boston, MA to Mary F. and Austin L. Jack.
On April 8, 1961, he married his wife and lifelong companion Eleanore M. Jack. He served six years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard as a Mess Sergeant and was qualified as a sharpshooter.
Bob was an active and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of Our Lady of the Valley Council 11703 in Middletown; a member, Past Faithful Navigator, and Former Color Corps Commander of Bishop McNamara Assembly 384 in Frederick; and a Past Chapter President of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapter of Grand Knights. Bob also served in several capacities with the Maryland State Council including as Former District Deputy where he oversaw the institution of five new councils in Frederick County during his term; as Columbian Squires Chairman; and in various council growth and advisory positions in Central and Western Maryland. Bob was also an active and dedicated member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, as a member and Past Division President of Frederick County Division 1.
Bob volunteered many years for Mission of Mercy where he served in registration and often cooked for the team. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, and fishing. There was nothing that made him happier than spending time with family.
Bob was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Community in Middletown, MD. Along with his wife Elly he served as a Lay Eucharist Minister.
Bob spent his career working in the automotive industry and worked his way up from auto mechanic, department supervisor, service advisor at Fitzgerald Automotive. Bob was well respected and was known at the man who could be counted on to "get the job done".
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elly, five children (Elizabeth Carpenter, William Jack, Richard Jack, Chris Jack and Anthony Jack. He was a grandfather to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his two brothers Ronald and Steven Jack.
Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Community Church, 7321 Burkittsville Rd (MD Rt. 17 North), Middletown, MD 21769:
Viewing from 10 - 11 am followed by a Catholic Mass.
Grave Side service at Resthaven Cemetery, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway (Rt 15 North), Frederick, MD 21701 at approximately 12:30 pm
