Well done, Mr Dickinson! Remember the Baughman's Lane to DC days, the 6 man crew of Layman, Owens, Morland, Young, Dickinson, & Bream. It was a carpool that worked because everyone was respectful of each other.
I grew up on Douglas Avenue with Bobby and Jack. Bobby was 3 years older than I and just one year older than my brother Richard Grandstaff. We played baseball and other games right there on the street. One time his brother Jack hit a baseball through our bedroom window and showered broken glass on the crib of my newborn sister Nancy. Nobody thankfully got hurt. I always loved sled riding with Bobby and Jack on the snowy street. They had the fastest and best sled of any of us. He would always let me ride on the back with him. What a wonderful, thrilling experience! He also taught me how to shoot a BB gun. When I was ten we moved to another part of town. I always missed the "avenue" though. I see in his obituary his wife Joanne was from Coney. What was your maiden name, because I would probably remember you? My email is [email protected].
