Robert E. Cooper Sr's Obituary
Obituary
Robert E. Cooper Sr., "Bob" age 85, of Middletown, MD, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Charlotte's Home, a caring and loving assisted living home in Boonsboro, MD. He was the devoted husband of the late Carol Kaye Cooper for 56 years. He was born on July 11, 1932 in Yawkey, WV to Okey and Theresa Cooper. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially loved the holidays and gathering with the entire family to celebrate. In 1994 he retired from Dimensions Health Care where he was employed as a senior facility engineer. He enjoyed taking daily long walks and talking with the neighbors he'd meet along the way. Bob could always be counted on to help his son in law, Jim, with home improvement projects. Bob was a quiet, soft-spoken gentleman who didn't talk about himself often or of his accomplishments. He joined the Army in May 1949 and fought gallantly in Korea. He was a decorated soldier who was awarded numerous medals including 5 bronze stars, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Distinguished Unit Emblem. He is survived by daughters, Diana Horn (Jim) of Middletown, MD, Debra Connor (Bill), of Palmyra, VA, sons Robert Cooper, Jr., of Frederick MD, Jeffrey Cooper (Amy), of Barboursville, VA, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Kathy Cooper and grandson, Jeremiah Cooper. Services will be held at the Resthaven Memorial Garden's Chapel, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD on Saturday, April 14 beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County in Bob's name, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
