Robert Preston Brooks' Obituary
Robert Preston Brooks, 76, of Taneytown, Maryland, was called home on Sunday, March 29, 2026. He was born on November 9, 1949, to the late James and Ruby Brooks.
Robert graduated from Brunswick High School in 1968. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for two years. On April 24, 1972, he began his long and dedicated career at Martin Marietta, where he worked for 54 years.
Robert had a passion for riding motorcycles, keeping his vehicles spotless, and listening to music. He was also an active member of several organizations, including the Elks Lodge, the Earth Wheel & Fire motorcycle club and the American Legion.
He is survived by his lifelong partner, Thelma Williams of Taneytown; his daughter, April Johnson, and son-in-law, James Johnson, of Frederick; and his stepson, Daryl Wedge of Frederick. He is also survived by his sisters: Margaret Lee and her husband Bishop Harry Lee of Aberdeen, Peggy Brooks of Frederick, and Frances Grimsley and her husband Bishop Harry Grimsley of Aberdeen, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Morris, Lucille Gilbert, Ruby Gilbert, and Rose Campbell, and his brother, James Brooks Jr.
Robert will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and the joy he found in the simple things he loved.
