Obituary
Robert Barnes aka "Allen," "Robert," "Bob," "Poppie," "Pap Pap," "Barnes", 72, formerly of Frederick, MD, of Carolina Shores, NC, suddenly passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at Grand Strand Regional Hospital after a brain hemorrhage. He was born May 31, 1942, in Hagerstown, the son of the late Robert Leo and Jane Toms Barnes. A US Army veteran and retired US Government/DOD in 1997. He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. He was also a member of the Calabash American Legion, Calabash VFW, Shallotte Elks Club, AMVETS, & American Legion Post #11, Fredrick, MD. After retirement in 1997, he and his wife moved to Carolina Shores, NC and recently spent his summers in Riverbend Campground in Falling Waters, WV. He enjoyed golfing, watching the news, camping, playing cards and traveling. Surviving are his wife, of 52 years, Nancy Barnes; two sons, Michael Barnes and his wife, Belinda Barnes of Walkersville, MD; Robert Riddell Barnes, and his wife, Tracy Barnes of Raleigh, NC; sister, Carol Huffer, of Jefferson, MD, & three grandchildren, Kristyn Barnes, Michelle Barnes and Jason Barnes of Walkersville, MD. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 4th in Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
