Richard Lee "Snake" Stewart, 67, of Mt. Airy passed away on August 2, 2017. He was the loving husband of Lia Stewart for 35 years. Born December 20, 1949 in Washington, DC to the late James Stewart and Patricia Fallon Stewart. Snake worked for the Federal Government as a Quality Assurance Specialist for 35 years at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD while also working at Montgomery General Hospital for 28 of those years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was known to be a jokester, funny and quick witted with no filter. He was a sweet and hardworking man evident by his work with the Federal Government. Snake was an avid fisherman in his spare time, he loved all sports, and was a collector of sports memorabilia. In addition to his wife, Snake is survived by his children; Christina, Scott, Brian, Brittany and Tammy. 12 grandchildren and several other family members and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, August 11th at 1 PM with Pastor Karin Albaugh officiating at the Historical Chapel at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick. Inurnment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations/contributions are asked to be made in Richard's name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.
