Holmes, Richard Scott's Obituary
Richard Scott "Rich" Holmes, age 87, of Frederick, MD, passed away on February 28, 2025. Rich was born on May 4, 1937, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Helen and Scott Holmes. He was the eldest son, raised alongside his brother, Randall Holmes.
Rich was a proud graduate of Lake Forest Academy in Illinois, and went on to attend Miami University in Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Mary. Rich and Mary were married for 49 wonderful years and created a beautiful family that includes their three children: Shawn (Holly Jo), Clarke, and JeanAnne (Jim). Rich is also survived by eight wonderful grandchildren: Lacey, Murphy, Kiersten, Erika, Clay, Kaleigh, Travis, and Kiera.
An avid golfer, Rich achieved the remarkable feat of making three hole-in-ones throughout his life. He was also a consummate salesman, whose charm and warmth won over everyone he met. While he may not have always remembered names, Rich never forgot a face. He had a heart of gold, and all who knew him loved him. He will be deeply missed by many.
A funeral service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 106 W. Church St., Frederick, MD, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Orthostatic Tremor Research Fund in Rich’s honor (orthostatictremor.org).
