Obituary
Rebecca L. Saunders, 93, passed away on Nov. 6, 2017. Born May 2, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Harry and Carrie Offord. In her earlier years Rebecca worked at the Washington Naval Yard, The Sewing Factory, bartended at the Elks Lodge and retired after over 30 years of service from Linton Biotics at Fort Detrick, MD. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Carolann E. Patterson; son, Franklin W. Saunders, Jr. (Debbie); 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 special nephews, Milton Offord, Thomas A. Offord, and Paul Ambush; a host of nieces and cousins; devoted friend, Mussy Lee-Warfield; and adopted families, the Swann and Jenkins families. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin W. Saunders, Sr.; devoted friend, George E. Jenkins; sisters, Caroline Bowie (Alton), Margaret Ambush (Lindsay), Annabelle Richardson, and Vallie Offord; brothers, Harry Offord, Noah Offord, Richard Offord, and Willie Offord; daughters, Patricia M. Saunders and Frances L. Brightful; and granddaughters, Bria Randolph, and Nicole V. Jackson. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 W. All Saints Street, Frederick, MD, with the family receiving friends at 11 a.m. and the funeral at 12 p.m. Rev. Mark A. Groover will officiate.
