Obituary
Mr. Ray James Lunnen III, 60, of Frederick, passed away on August 24, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Darla Faith Lunnen, of Frederick, his wife of 24 years.Born in Rantoul, IL, he was the son of Colonel Ray J. Lunnen, Jr. USAF (Ret) and Gloria (Nabors) Lunnen of State College, PA. As a member of an Air Force Family, Ray III relocated many times in his youth. He made many visits to his parents' home in Connellsville, PA and spent the early years of his life near Pease Air Force Base, NH. He also spent years in Dayton, OH and in Rome, Watertown and Syracuse, NY. Most of his youth was spent in Dale City, VA where he was active in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and being inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He was active in sports, and loved Little League Baseball. Ray graduated from Garfield High School, attended North Dakota State University and graduated from Penn State University. He completed his education at Cleveland State University where he earned a Juris Doctorate Degree.Surviving, in addition to his loving wife and his parents, are his son, Shane James Lunnen & wife JoAnna of Irwin, PA; two brothers, Keith Douglas Lunnen & wife Lisa of Essex, MA, and Brent Eric Lunnen & wife Lydia of State College, PA; mother-in-law, Jo Ann Casey of Frederick; brother-in-law, Daren Brent Casey of Plainville, CT; one niece and many nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick.
