Phyllis Rae Rosen, 63, of Frederick, Maryland died suddenly on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her home. Born on November 18, 1952, she was the talented and devoted daughter of the late Edna B. and Robert M. Rosen. Phyllis graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville, MD in 1970 and Ball State University in Muncie, IN in 1974 with a degree in Special Education. She received her Master's Degree in Education Administration from Johns Hopkins University. Her first teaching job was in Kissimee, FL. Phyllis retired from the Frederick County Public School System in 2005. Phyllis was an active member of Congregation Kol Ami in Frederick, MD. She spent many hours volunteering her time and lending her talents to numerous charitable events. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, country music and going on cruises. Phyllis leaves behind her brothers, Lawrence in Boulder, CO and Jay (Cathy) in Astoria, OR, her niece Allison Rosen in San Francisco, CA, and two nephews, Ryan Rosen in Seattle, WA and Liam Rosen in Oakland, CA. She will be missed by her family and her many, many friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in the Solomon Gardens at 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Blessings in a Backpack Program.
