Oh lord where do I start , my name is Aidan Doyle and I am from Ireland and to say my heart is broken would be an understatement . I first met Phil when he came to Ireland as a professional basketball player , when he was introduced to me by my friend who was ironically called big Lar as both of them were of equal height. We trained in the same hall but my sport was boxing . I remember the first time I saw Phil train , wow !!! he was unbelievably talented and we all knew straight away what he was going to bring to our town and he did when he lined out with the Prtarlington Hawks , and brought us out of the lower divisions and right to the top. Anyway myself and Phil just instantly clicked even though he was 6 years older than me and we became really good friends, we partied together along with big Lar and wherever you saw one of the 3 of us you saw us all . PHIL MC MANUS left so many memories with me that I could probably write a book , and shaped my life going forward I never forgot our friendship and chats . I had the pleasure of meeting Phil in Georgetown DC 2017 when I was doing a music tour . We hadn't met for 26yrs and we sat and talked for hours until Phil had to leave , on leaving he told me he was to play a basketball final the next day , what a guy . So to Phils wife sherry and his family I am so sorry to hear this news . Phil my friend thank you for all the memories you will never be forgotten on this side of the world , and in my native Irish language I say , ar dhéis dá go raibh on anam dílís . Meaning at the right hand side of the lord may his soul rest.
