Peter James Chaffiotte's Obituary
Peter Chaffiotte Sr, graduated from this life on August 23, 2023. He is survived by his children Sam & Peter, his daughter-in-law Kasey, his grandson Sorin, and a large illustrious clan known as The Chaffiottes.
Pete started his long, strange trip, in Oradell, New Jersey. After high school, he traveled all throughout the country ending up at San Jose State to attend college. He claimed this era to be his “free-spirited hippy years”. In the early 90s Pete settled down to start his family in Vancouver, Washington. He wanted to stay, but his wife wanted to go! Frederick, Maryland was the destination and where he spent the better half of his life.
Pete was always down for any journey. He loved nothing more than to kick back with his brothers and sisters by enjoying a strong martini(stirred) preferably washed down with a Cuban cigar.
After a successful sales career and raising his family, he allotted most of his time to taking care of his Son Pete Jr and within the special needs community. He was a valued part of the Special Olympics, Community Living and the Challenger Baseball League.
In his final years he continued to selflessly assist the special needs community wherever possible. His favorite indulgence every Sunday afternoon was a mind clearing swim with his son Peter Jr at the local YMCA pool. In addition, he enjoyed countless gourmet meals prepared by his son Sam, whether it be at one of the restaurants, or at the comfort of their home. Pete developed the morning ritual of watching countless hours of Bob the Train with his 2-year-old grandson while enjoying a warm pot of coffee to kick off the day.
Pete was a giving soul, even in the afterlife. As per his personal wishes his body was donated to medical repurposing and research. Reflecting of his pure selflessness, his corneas were relinquished, and this opportunity resulted in two individuals obtaining the gift of sight.
A Celebration of Pete’s life will be held at a later date. Please follow his Facebook page for further information, dates and announcements.
