Paul Richard Wilcom's Obituary
Obituary
Paul Richard Wilcom, 88, died Wednesday, May 18, 2017 at Homewood of Frederick. Paul was born on May 28, 1928 in Frederick to the late John J. Wilcom & Grace E (Murphy) Wilcom. On August 8, 1950, he married his loving wife Virginia Mae Wilcom and began their life-long adventure together. Paul worked as a dairy farmer all of his life and always stayed close to home. He was known by his Family and Friends as Poppy and for his never-ending knowledge of guns, ammo, things to shoot at and movie stars. Paul enjoyed spending time with military members from Ft. Detrick, whom he invited into his home as friends for a safe place to unwind. He was a proud life member of the NRA and the Maryland Farm Bureau and he always prayed for our military and their families. Virginia's chipped beef gravy was his weakness and he was never far from her side; and she was not far from the kitchen. Paul is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Hummel, Urbana MD; one son, Joseph Wilcom, Yelm WA; three sisters, Mary Dudderar, Betty Lenhart, and Linda Simons; two brothers, John Wilcom, Jr. and Robert S. Wilcom, all of Frederik, MD; two sisters-in-law, Sue Wilcom, WV and Dolly Staley, Frederick, MD; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wilcom, one brother, Carroll Wilcom (Jaybird) and two brothers-in-law, Calvin E. Lenhart (Buddy) and Bernard Staley. Viewing will be held Saturday, May 20th, 5pm to 8pm at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD, where the funeral service will take place on Sunday, May 21st at 3:30pm. Viewing will be open 1 hour prior to funeral service on Sunday. Interment will take place in the Garden of the Christus at Resthaven Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service. - VisitationResthaven Historical Chapel9501 Catoctin Mtn hwyFrederick, MD 21701 Saturday, May 20, 2017 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM ServiceResthaven Historical Chapel9501 Catoctin Mtn HwyFrederick, MD 21701 Sunday, May 21, 2017 3:30 PM - 4:15 AM CemeteryResthaven Memorial Gardens9501 Catoctin Mtn HwyFrederick, MD 21701 Sunday, May 21, 2017 4:15 PM - 4:40 PM
