Obituary
Nathaniel Luray Smith, 73, fondly known as Paper and Babe Boy, departed this life, Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Frederick, Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD. He was born June 12, 1941, to the late Nathaniel L. Lyles and Edna Beatrice Smith.Nathaniel was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1959. He entered the United States Army in 1961, serving in the 3rd Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. He also served two years of Active Reserve in the 559th Signal Corps. After his military service, he worked many years in construction. Later, he attended Rets Electronic School, Baltimore, MD becoming a Television Repair Technician. Nathaniel was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.He leaves to cherish many memories, a loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Aritha Thomas Smith; daughter, Dawn Newman; two stepsons, Anthony Carroll and Jerome Harp; sister, Wendy Thompson; two brothers, James and Gregory Smith, all of Frederick; two grandchildren, Shrae and Ryan Ritter; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, devoted in-laws, and numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Jeanette (Bitsy) Lovett.Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 6430 Jefferson Pike, Frederick. Viewing is at 9 a.m., family receives friends at 10 a.m. and funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor William Graham, officiating. Interment is at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts can be sent to First Missionary Baptist Church (Wall of Love) in memory of Nathaniel L. Smith.
