Mr. Morris Franklin Damuth, 89, of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Frederick, MD died April 5, 2017 at Greenfield Senior Living.Morris was born May 22, 1927 in Lewistown, MD to the late Howard Franklin Damuth and Edna May Nusbaum Damuth. He was a veteran, having served with the Army Headquarters Transportation Corps in occupied Korea.Mr. Damuth was employed by the Federal Government in Bethesda at the National Institutes of Health with over 30 years of service until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren and attended St. James Brethren Church until his illness.Being a member and volunteer with the C&O Canal Association, he walked and bicycled from Georgetown to Cumberland many times. He also walked the Bay Bridge several times. He enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and having many reunions with the family.Mr. Damuth is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly C. Damuth; daughter Anna M. Gouker and husband Gary; grandson Brad A. Gouker and wife Megan, all of Hagertown; one brother, Howard Richard Damuth and wife Marguerite; a sister-in-law, Doris Damuth, all of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Damuth.The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM on Sunday, April 9th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 10th; Pastor Mike Simane will officiate.
