Frederick, MD - Michael Jay Williams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born on March 7, 1950, in Frederick, MD, to the late Charles and Mary Williams.
Michael's life was defined by his dedication and service to his country. He proudly served in the army, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to protecting and preserving the freedoms we enjoy. His service in the armed forces left an indelible mark on his character and shaped him into the honorable man he became.
An avid outdoorsman, Michael found solace and joy in spending time in nature. He had a deep love for fishing, finding serenity in the calm waters, and the thrill of the catch. The memories he created while fishing will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of joining him on his adventures. In addition to fishing, Michael enjoyed hunting. Showcasing his love and passion for hunting, he became a prestigious member of the Maryland Fur Trappers.
Family was the cornerstone of Michael's life, and he held them dear in his heart. He was married to his beloved late wife, Deborah Faye Williams, for 51 years. Their journey together was one of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Their bond was a shining example of what it means to be true partners in life.
Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion through his son, Jason Williams, and wife Michelle. He cherished his role as a father and instilled in his son the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family. He was immensely proud of the man Jason had become, and their bond will transcend lifetimes.
His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to Aaron Finneyfrock and wife Kelly, Cheyanne and husband Scotty Gregory, Wyatt Williams and Ryley Young, and Morgan Williams. Their laughter, adventures, and milestones brought immeasurable happiness to his life. He reveled in witnessing each of them grow into remarkable individuals.
Michael's love extended further to his great grandchildren Vannie, Jam-O, and Colton. Their innocent joy and zest for life brought light into his days, and he treasured each moment shared with them.
In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his son, Richard (Ricky) Mathew Williams.
Visitation to honor Michael's life and share memories will be held on January 15, 2024, from 6pm to 9pm at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., located at 9501 B Catoctin Mtn Hwy. This will be an opportunity for friends and family to come together to celebrate his life, share stories, and find solace in the collective support of loved ones.
