Mr. Michael Neiper DeMar's Obituary
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Michael Neiper DeMar, aged 53, departed this life at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Born on March 21, 1971, he was the beloved son of Ceceila DeMar of Hagerstown, MD, and the husband of Alena DeMar, KY.
Michael served in the United States Army for 17 years (1996-2013) as a Staff Sergeant. He was deployed to the Middle East 3 times, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and Kuwait. He was a dedicated and courageous soldier, who served our country with pride and dignity. Being wounded in combat, Michael was a recipient of 3 Purple Hearts and retired with an Honorable Discharge.
During his Military time, Michael lived in various parts of the country such as: Fort Riley, KS, Fort Knox, KY, Tacoma, WA, Clayton, NY, to name a few.
His favorite past times were watching sports and listening to good music. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers! What he enjoyed most was spending time with his children, Cortez and LaTayvia, and his adorable grandchildren, Caellum and Rowan, whom he called his “Hearts.” He had a special bond with his aunties and two uncles, Jimbo and Billy. His boys who he refers to were like brothers, Kevin, Daruis, William, John Jr., Shannon and Shantay, but they were all cousins.
He is survived and will be missed by his wife Alena DeMar, Ft. Knox, KY; his mother, Ceceila DeMar, Hagerstown, MD; 2 sisters, Nicole and Tracy DeMar, Hagerstown, MD; 1 son, Cortez Boyce (Bobbi), Hagerstown, MD; 1 daughter, LaTayvia DeMar, Frederick, MD; 2 grandchildren, Caellum and Rowan Boyce, Hagerstown, MD; 2 nephews, Jalik DeMar, MS and Joseph Cornwall, Hagerstown, MD; Aunts and Uncles, Patsy Vernon, Miramar, FL; Harrison DeMar, Jr., Gaithersburg, MD; William DeMar (Gail-deceased), Damascus, MD; Shirley Kennard, Silver Springs, MD; Dorothy Scott (Gary), Frederick, MD and Nancy Onley (John Sr.), Frederick, MD; 2 Great-Aunts, Rev. Roberta Johnson, York, PA and Rev. Gloria Lyles, Silver Springs, MD; Special Thanks to his Caregiver, Cousins, Mishel Onley, aka “Marshawn” (John Jr.), Frederick, MD and a host of devoted cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Harrison DeMar, Sr. and Elsie DeMar-Pryor and Cousin Charlie Hopkins.
Funeral Services are on Saturday, November 2, 2024, 10:00am Viewing, followed by 11:00am Service. The burial will be private. Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy. Frederick, MD 21701.
