Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sundergill Gamble, 96, of Frederick, died Thursday, February 7, 2019. She was the wife of the late Gordon Gamble, who preceded her in death in 2011. They were married on December 12, 1947 at St. John's Catholic Church. Born December 1, 1922 near Libertytown, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Emma Sappington Sundergill. Mary graduated from Frederick High School in 1939. In her early working years, she worked for WFMD, Thomas & Co. and at Ft. Detrick. She also was a secretary at the Norfolk ARC. She was a Girl Scout leader and in her later years she volunteered for 14 years as a secretary at St. John's Elementary School. Mary is survived by her children, Deborah Shaff, Christopher Gamble (Marsha) and Judith Cody (John Thurman). Grandchildren are Lara Gamble-Menard (Christian), Eleah Maish (Lance), Nathan Cody (Sheri), Sarah Kuykendall (Jason), Madison Thurman, Timmy Privette, Leah Leveille (David) and Sydnee Thurman. Great-grandchildren are Avery, Landon, Sadie, Lexi, Tiago, Sawyer, Vivienne, Arlo and Parker. She is also survived by her brother, Stanley Sundergill (Sienna) and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at St. John's Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
