Mary Louise Elston's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Louise Elston, 82, of Mountaindale, MD, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Frederick Health Hospital. She was the wife of David F. Elston for 46 years.
Born in Skaggsville, MD, on April 3, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel (Hoffman) Covell. She grew up in Braddock Heights.
A graduate of Frederick High School, she worked at FMH and Frederick Surgical Center as a CNA and surgical technician. She was a member of the Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman’s Club and, in previous years, an EMT with Graceham VFD, also working their food truck at the Frederick Fair. She took pride in serving and being a caregiver to others. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing, reading, gardening, needlepoint, bingo, and was an amazing cook who loved swans.
She leaves behind her daughters Brenda Kaleo and Kim McMahon from her first marriage to JR Metz; Lori Storey (Rich) from her second marriage to Michael Barry; and stepchildren Carter Elston (Tina) and Marsha Elston, as well as her special friend Norman “Doc” Metz.
She was predeceased by her siblings Ruby Barry and Clarence “Junie” Covell; daughter Michelle Barry; grandson Justin Sigler; and nephew Larry Covell.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren: Randy Kaleo Jr., Chris Kaleo, Sara Kern, Miranda Rice, Jeremy Shaffer, Breana Storey, Savannah Storey, Aaron Gladhill, Alyssa Carmark, and Nicholas Elston; 14 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Mykensie, Shay, Emmitt, Demetri, Malcom, Madilynn, Natilee, Warren, Helena, Cory, Teddy, Ayden, and Elyjah; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She will also be remembered by her special nieces and nephews: Thom, Sharon, Sandy, Billy, Audrey, Barbara Ann, Theresa, and Mary, and by her brother-in-law Mark Elston (Judy).
Services are provided by Resthaven Funeral Home, with visitation on Wednesday, December 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and a memorial service on Thursday, December 18, at 11:00 a.m., with an hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service.
Rodney Burdette, Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church (Rouzerville, PA), will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter or charity of choice.
Pallbearers: Randy Kaleo Jr., Chris Kaleo, Shay Kaleo, Aaron Gladhill, Frank Wilke, and Hondo Lawson.
